UMAP Package

The UMAP package (28 hours/week) provides a well-rounded, intensive therapy program for adults with chronic aphasia. Each client is assigned to a team of certified speech-language pathologists (SLP). One SLP, the client’s primary clinician, coordinates the client’s goals and is the point person for the family and client to go to with questions and to learn about goals and progress in the therapy sessions.

Beginning in January 2011, UMAP sessions are following a monthly format. A full-time client now receives 24 hours of core speech-language therapy each week, which includes Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, and Computer Lab. Group Music Therapy, Caregiver Curriculum, and Social-Recreational Activities complete the weekly package of 28 hours of structured activities.

The intensive therapy regimen coupled with the supportive environment and immersion in using language in natural contexts at UMAP creates a life-changing experience for adults with chronic aphasia and their families. Over 95% of our clients would recommend UMAP to others and over a quarter of our clients each year are returning, demonstrating strong client satisfaction.
