University Center for the Development of the Language and Literacy (UCLL)

UMAP is one of a small number of clinical service programs around the country that offers language therapy to adults with chronic aphasia on an intensive intervention schedule. Our program accountability data are available to inform potential clients and the public at large about the improvements our clients show after participating in UMAP. The following questions are addressed and answered in more detail in our outcomes white paper.

1. Did clients benefit from the intensive therapy program at the UMAP?

2. How much improvement occurred on average at the end of a 6-week program?*

3. Were there client characteristics that influenced the amount of change between pre- and post-testing?

4. Did clients benefit from attending more than one session at the UMAP?

5. If a client wanted to attend another UMAP session, was it important that they be scheduled consecutively?

*Effective January 2011, UMAP follows a 4-week format. The last data collected still reflect the 6-week format. The intensity of the program has not changed.
