At UMAP, the clinical, business, and research staff share a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. We believe that the success of our program comes from ensuring our clients have the best possible experience not only in their therapy sessions, but throughout the program.

At the completion of each UMAP session, clients and/or caregivers are asked to complete and return a brief survey about their experiences in the program. Based on 207 surveys (87 percent response rate), response to UMAP has been overwhelmingly positive!

  • 96 percent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they would recommend the program to others
  • 97 percent agreed or strongly agreed that they were satisfied with their experience in UMAP
  • 95 agreed or strongly agreed that their speech/language pathologist was competent and knowledgeable

Qualitative comments give us additional insight into which aspects of the program clients perceive to be particularly attractive or effective. When asked about the greatest benefit of attending UMAP, responses included:

  • "Support and understanding exactly what Aphasia is and how we need to continue with all we learned to succeed with returning in a more normal life."
  • "Seeing how all the fragmented strengths were used to promote progress."
  • "Individual, intense therapy."
  • "Intensive therapy and hard work pay off. Great support group."
  • "Structured program. All the therapists were very good and took a personal interest in my father's progress."

Another question asks clients/caregivers to identify the most significant accomplishment made by participating in the program. Responses range from comments about improvements made in reading and writing to observations about how UMAP helps clients and families strategize an ongoing recovery schedule back at home.
