The UMAP Part-Time Option Our clients benefit greatly from UMAP’s intensive therapy, even if only attending part-time. UMAP’s part-time option offers the same quality of care as our full-time option, and it is perfect for individuals who may not have the capabilities or the means to attend full-time. What’s Included As a part-time client, you are able to receive all the same program options as a full-time client. In addition to the individual, group, and computer based therapy, we offer you:
- Specialized therapy groups (Book Club, Cooking Group)
- Social-Recreational Activities (Dinner Club, Tigers games)
- Music Therapy
- Caregiver Curriculum
Customized Therapy on a Flexible Schedule We can modify our full-time program to create a concentrated part-time schedule designed specifically for you, in order to meet your unique intensive therapy needs. We also offer flexible scheduling to give you the therapy you need during the times that work best for you. Weekly Therapy Hours Because research has shown that individuals with aphasia need at least 9 hours of intensive therapy per week in order to see significant speech and language improvements, we recommend a minimum of 9 hours of weekly therapy to our part-time clients. We understand that your time is more limited as a part-time client. We will do everything we can to ensure you receive as much therapy and support as possible on your modified schedule, and that you attain the maximum benefits from it. Caregiver Education & Support The involvement of caregivers in therapy is crucial, and we understand that, with the part-time option, their time is more limited as well. We will educate and support your caregivers with the same quality of care as we would our full-time clients.
