University Center for the Development of the Language and Literacy (UCLL)
As a caregiver accompanying your loved one to UMAP you are invited to participate in our Caregiver Curriculum. This is a unique program which focuses on six educational goals (outlined below). We have set up a variety of core activities and experiences relating to each goal. Participating in these activities will expand your knowledge as a caregiver as well as give you tools to use with your loved one at home.

Educational Goals
  1. To understand the rationale for intensive therapy
  2. To acquire basic knowledge about aphasia, complicating factors, and expectations for recovery
  3. To learn what caregivers can do to enhance recovery and maintain gains
  4. To learn about the types of resources available to support recovery and maintain gains, and how to access them
  5. To learn how to re-enter social situations when someone has aphasia
  6. To learn how to take care of yourself and to be a better caregiver
Take a look at the activities that will help you fulfill each goal.
