Road closure on Glen Avenue between East Ann Street and Catherine Street

Glen Avenue, between Catherine Street and East Ann Street, is scheduled to be temporarily closed May 2 - 5 to accommodate emergency utility repairs in advance of the Glen Avenue repaving project scheduled to begin May 7, 2012.

Vehicular and pedestrian detours will be as follows:

  • Northbound Glen Avenue traffic will be diverted to East Ann Street eastbound, then to Zina Pitcher Place northbound, then to Catherine Street westbound, and back to Glen Avenue.
  • Southbound Glen Avenue traffic will be detoured to Catherine Street westbound, then to North State Street southbound, then to East Huron Street eastbound, and back to Glen Avenue.
  • Eastbound Catherine Street traffic will be diverted to eastbound East Ann Street, and will then follow the detour route for northbound Glen Avenue, or proceed on southbound Glen Avenue.

Pedestrian traffic

  • Pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the west side of Glen Avenue during this project.
  • Northbound Glen Avenue pedestrians should cross to the west side of the road at East Ann Street.
  • Southbound Glen Avenue pedestrians should cross to the west side of the road at Catherine Street.

Glen Avenue resurfacing between East Huron Street and the bridge over the railroad tracks

Glen Avenue, between East Huron Street and the bridge over the railroad tracks, is scheduled to be repaved beginning May 7 and will last approximately 5 to 6 weeks.

The project will also include curb repairs and the replacement of sidewalk ramps to meet ADA standards. One lane of southbound traffic on Glen Avenue will be maintained at all times. Cross street traffic at East Ann Street and Catherine Street will also be maintained. Glen Avenue will be closed to northbound traffic at East Huron Street and traffic will be detoured via two posted routes:

  • East Huron Street to North Division Street to Broadway Street to Maiden Lane
  • Washtenaw Avenue to Geddes Avenue to Huron Parkway to Fuller Street
