When planning for your time at UMAP, please prepare as you would for a vacation spent away from home. You will most likely be staying in a hotel with typical accommodations. The following are recommended items to make it easier for you to participate in the program.

    Therapy Supplies
  • Any speech therapy materials, augmentative communication devices, or computer software used at home
  • Rolling book bag for carrying therapy materials
  • Small photo album with photos of family, home, pets, vacations
  • Video or audiotapes of you prior to your injury or in the acute state of recovery. This will aid in diagnosing and treating your communication difficulties

    Personal Needs

  • Personal identification
  • Any important phone numbers and addresses
  • Health care insurance cards
  • A list of current medications
  • An adequate supply of prescription medicines for the duration of your stay

Casual attire is suitable for therapy. You may wish to bring more appropriate clothing for trips to sporting events or dinners. Please bring proper clothing for the season in which you will be attending.

    Incidental Expenses

You will need spending money for outings, concerts or movies, snacks and other recreational activities just like at home.
  • ATM card
  • Credit card
  • Traveler’s checks

    Recreational Needs

Some clients enjoy participating in recreational activities during their time outside of the Center. Weather permitting you will have the opportunity to golf, play tennis, swim, walk, work out, etc. There are indoor facilities on campus available to you as well as many outdoor recreational areas. Depending on your interests, you may wish to bring the following items:
  • Golf clubs
  • Tennis racket
  • Workout clothes
